Crystal Palace keeping tabs on Bacary Sagna

France international Bacary Sagna could make an instant return to the Premier League with Crystal Palace among the main admirers for his services.

The 34-year-old is a free agent following his release from Manchester City earlier in May, and he is now on the lookout for a potential club, where he could extend his professional career.

Sagna left Arsenal for Manchester City on a free following their FA Cup triumph back in 2014 as he is believed that the Citizens would be his stepping stone to further success. However, the right-back did not find much to celebrate about during his three seasons at the Etihad as he won just the League Cup - when compared to the Gunners, who have lifted two more FA Cup titles during the period.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has decided to make a major reshuffling of his full-back positions ahead of the new campaign, and this has seen the likes of Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and most recently Aleksandar Kolarov leave the Etihad. Nevertheless, the club have managed to strengthen the positions at a price with Kyle Walker, Danilo and Benjamin Mendy arriving for a combined fee in excess of £130m.

According to The Mail, the experienced defender could get a new lease of life in England with Crystal Palace keen on adding him to their ranks. However, the Eagles are likely to face competition from West Bromwich Albion, who are also monitoring his developments. A move to Marseille is another option in Sagna's hands but he could wait upon suitable offers from the Premier League first.

Sagna has made a total of 267 appearances during his ten-year stint in the Premier League with both Arsenal and Manchester City. He has already remained a France regular during this period with 65 caps, but latest exit could well spell an end to his international prospects ahead of the World Cup finals in Russia next year.
