Premier League Title Race Far from over for Manchester City, Says Sagna

Manchester City have not yet lost the Premier League title race, according to defender BacarySagna.

The endured a difficult run of results during the last couple of weeks, and it has seen them drop seven points behind table leaders Chelsea. City started the campaign in brilliant fashion buoyed by the presence of new boss Pep Guardiola. However, the club have been falling off the pace of late largely because of Guardiola being unsure of the best team. He also has had to deal with injuries to key players like Sergio Aguero, who has also been suspended for several games.

There has been a turnaround of results in the last 10 days with the club securing back-to-back wins in the Premier League. A 2-0 win over Watford was followed up with a 2-1 win over Arsenal. The latter was especially important considering that it was against one of their title rivals.

City were in the fourth spot coming into the game, but they were able to move past Arsenal into the third place. Since the season is yet to even reach the halfway stage, Sagna says that there is still a lot of time for City to recover and top the table once again. Chelsea have been quite impressive in the first half of the campaign and they recently chalked up their 11th successive league win.

"All we can do is keep winning games, just go game-by-game, focus on our games, our performances and not worry about them. The season is still long. They will drop some points at some stage, but we know we can't afford to drop many now.We did [well] at the beginning of the season. Then we had a bad period. Now we have a few days to recover and then we start again because we know this is a vital time. The title race will be played until the last game of the season," said Sagna.
