Crystal Palace Interested in Move for Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy

Crystal Palace are reportedly looking to make the most out of players like Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy being available on a free transfer in the summer.

Manchester City are set to undergo wholesale changes – especially at the back – with a number of players leaving the club in the summer after the end of the contracts. Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy, Pablo Zabaleta, and Yaya Toure could be the names on the verge of an exit from the club. Clichy and Sagna appear to interest Sam Allardyce, who has always been a manager with an eye for older players.

His most consistent and best period in management came at Bolton Wanderers when he managed to get the best out of older players like Ivan Campo. One of the sticking points in a potential deal could be the player’s wage demands, but it is expected that both Clichy and Sagna will be realistic when it comes to the demands knowing that they are coming towards the end of their careers.

Both players were signed from Arsenal for a combined €8 million. It is because City had to pay a transfer fee only for Clichy, while Bacary Sagna came to the club on a free transfer. Both players have enjoyed a lot of success since their move to the Etihad stadium.

Crystal Palace have been able to sustain a place in the Premier League after the arrival of Sam Allardyce.“Palace have been showing an interest in Bacary and Gael for a while, and look like they’re ready to make a move. They’re Premier League position is secured and it was all dependent on if they had that cash as to whether they made a move or not.The pair of them liked it down in the capital and I don't see why they wouldn't move back down south if the wages were right,” said an City official.
