Antoine Griezmann says he needs more time to coordinate with Messi and Suarez

Barcelona attacker Antoine Griezmann has said that he requires more time to adjust to the movements of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi. The France international was recruited from Atletico Madrid over the summer with the view to forming an attacking partnership with the duo but so far, that has not been the case with Messi just returning from injury.

Messi made his first appearance of the campaign during the Champions League opener against Borussia Dortmund but he could not influence the proceedings off the bench as the Blaugrana settled for a 0-0 draw. Speaking after the game, Griezmann said that he has spent just a couple of months with his new club and he needs more time to find the cohesion with Suarez and Messi in the frontline, he told: "It's my second month since I arrived. I have to get used to it and play more with them to understand the movements of Suarez and Leo. We have not knocked on the door enough, and we must improve and work at it. It is a point but Marc stopped a penalty and made other saves."

Barcelona have produced a mixed bag in terms of the performances this season and they have won just two of the opening five games across all competitions. At present, they are three points behind Sevilla, who are at the top of the league table but that won’t necessarily hamper them, considering the season has just started and they have plenty of time to make up the deficit.

The absence of Messi has somewhat nullified the X-factor within the squad when the club are under pressure and manager Ernesto Valverde will be hoping that Messi can find the scoring touch at the earliest after recovering from a calf problem. Griezmann, meanwhile, has quickly adapted to the new surroundings and he has bagged two goals and two assists from the opening four league matches.
